Setup - Large Display¶
The QuattroPod is primarily designed for projectors. For large displays, the QuattroPod with external antennas and easier mounting is better equipped to handle WiFi interference that may be caused by large displays. However, you can still use the QuattroPod with large displays and optimize it with our setup recommendations:
Power Supply (5V/1.5A)¶
- For power supply, connect the included USB-C charging cable to a USB charging port that provides minimum 7.5W (5V/1.5A). Then connect the USB-C charging cable to the QuattroPod. If your display doesn't have a USB charging port or you're unsure whether the USB port supports the minimum current, a USB power adapter (5V/2A) can be ordered from us:
Recommended Setups¶
For successful use of the QuattroPod with large screens, it's crucial not only to use the correct power source mentioned above but also to maintain a minimum distance between the EZCast device and the screen. This precaution is necessary because most large screens can cause significant WiFi interference, potentially leading to choppy and unstable video playback. Unlike other streaming devices, the QuattroPod stands out by supporting not just Miracast but all other available streaming protocols. Additionally, it offers two WiFi interfaces: a built-in hotspot and a connection to your router, enabling seamless internet content playback and supporting centralized management. Therefore, ensuring optimal mounting and WiFi conditions is important to guarantee smooth and efficient performance.
We've divided our setup recommendations into HDMI extensions of 0.2 m and 0.5 m. 20 cm is the minimum distance at which the QuattroPod should be mounted near a display over 40".
The appropriate setup recommendation depends on where the HDMI port is located on the screen. If the HDMI port is at the edge of the screen, the included 0.2 m HDMI extension can be used. However, if the HDMI port is positioned further back on the screen, we strongly recommend following the 0.5 m instructions.
0.2 m HDMI Extension¶
- The HDMI port is located at the edge of the screen
- A 0.2 m HDMI extension is included in the package
0.5 m HDMI Extension¶
- The HDMI port is located further back on the screen
- A 0.5 m or 1 m HDMI extension is not included but can be ordered separately if needed
Cable Ties¶
- The QuattroPod is secured using cable ties to prevent overheating
- The QuattroPod should not be mounted using adhesive tape or mounting pads to avoid overheating
Incorrect Setups¶
Stick Mounted Behind the Screen¶
Mounting the QuattroPod behind a large display significantly reduces WiFi range and quality, leading to poor streaming performance and instability. Please carefully follow our recommended setups.
Insufficient Power from USB Port¶
While it may seem intuitive to power the stick through any available USB port on the display, caution is required. Without sufficient power supply through the connected USB-A port (minimum 5V/1.5A), the stick may turn on but will experience interruptions. If your display doesn't have a USB charging port or you're unsure about the port's power output, please use a USB power adapter (5V/2A):
Stick Mounted with Adhesive Pads¶
Using adhesive pads to mount the EZCast device risks overheating and may reduce device performance. We recommend using cable ties to secure your QuattroPod:
